As the National Day of Prayer Honorary Chair for 2014, I heard the familiar promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 frequently invoked: If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Yet I wondered how many of us, including myself, have earnestly followed through in focused prayer? Are we just mouthing the words or are we truly humbling ourselves and praying and seeking God’s face and repenting of our sin? I have felt deeply convicted that it’s time for you and me to stop talking. It’s time to pray. And repent.

After 777: An Urgent Call To Prayer

For six days, once a day, it was my privilege to be joined with you as we earnestly humbled ourselves, sought God’s face, prayed and repented of our sin. On the seventh day, we prayed and fasted for seven hours. What’s striking is that this is the same pattern for victory over enemy strongholds that God gave to Joshua over 3000 years ago.

While at home caring for my husband, I have had time to be quiet and listen more to the whispers of the Spirit. He has revealed things to me in the stillness that I’m not sure I would have heard in my former busyness. One of the things He has impressed on me is that we are living at the end of human history as we know it. In light of this, He has given me some practical assignments. One was to be the Honorary Chair for the National Day of Prayer 2014 this past May. He gave me the message I was to deliver, which was from Joel 1…the Day of the Lord is at hand. It was a message warning of judgment that is coming.

June 10th, 2014, would have been my mother’s 94th birthday. So to celebrate her life, I carved out time to go home yesterday and spend the day with my father. I have celebrated her birthday with him every year since she moved to Heaven.

Before an orchestra strikes the first note of the symphony, the musicians begin to tune their various instruments. The sounds are very discordant as the strings or horns or trumpets are taken up and down the musical scale to make sure all is ready for the performance. I can almost hear the Last Trumpet being tuned. It’s almost time for the performance of the ages as one blast will announce the Beginning of the End.
