Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. Acts 3:19

What a joy it was to share in the 175th Anniversary of Tremont Temple Baptist Church on Beacon Hill in downtown Boston this past weekend! Abraham Lincoln and Dwight L. Moody both preached at this church. The Emancipation Proclamation was first read from this church. Charles Dickens read The Christmas Carol at this church! Vote Your Values

I felt I had to write and urge you to contend
for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. Jude 3

I desire to reach people of every persuasion…liberal and conservative, Democrat and Republican, churched and unchurched…with the message of God’s love extended to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Rise Up!

Oct 19, 2014

Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will take a stand for me against
evildoers?  Psalm 94:16

“…If the church doesn’t wake up now and stand and fight there IS no church in America. This is the red line. It has been crossed. When I read about this I immediately thought THIS IS RIGHT OUT OF MY BONHOEFFER BOOK.”

Eric was voicing his outrage over what he had just read concerning the subpoenas issued by the Houston mayor’s office to five Houston pastors.  Mayor Parker has demanded that the pastors turn over to her office their private papers in 17 different categories, including sermons, “speeches,” phone or private conversations that in any way touch on homosexuality, the mayor herself, and the city ordinance concerning transgender people using public restrooms.

My Mother’s Legacy

Sept 29, 2014

A good person leaves an inheritance
for their children’s children…
Proverbs 13:22

Webster’s Dictionary defines a legacy as “something coming from a predecessor.” It’s what we leave behind that others will remember us by. As I have contemplated my predecessors, and what their legacies have been to me, my mother comes quickly to mind.  Besides her sparkling wit, her commitment to world evangelism, her devotion to my Daddy, and her fierce loyalty to her children, the legacy that stands out above all else is the legacy of God’s Word.  She loved it! She spent hours reading and studying it. At the end of her life, she was still memorizing passages from it. As a result, hers was a life well lived.  Because she didn’t just obey God’s Word, she increasingly grew passionately in love with the One who is revealed in its pages.
