Are You Thirsty?

April 29, 2015

Jesus said, Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. John 4:13-14

In a world filled with anger, violence, chaos, and confusion, give someone The Living Water. In a world of death, give Life. In a world of darkness, give Light. In a world of despair, give Hope. In a world of lies, give Truth.

Give them Jesus. Today.

Keep Looking Up!

April 21, 2015

And God said…whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you… Genesis 9:12, 14-15

God gave the rainbow originally as a sign of His everlasting love and commitment to Noah after judgement had fallen on the world. Following the horrendous storms during this past week that included 90 mph winds, tornadoes, and ping-pong-ball sized  hail, there were rainbows everywhere! Including one quadruple rainbow!

Is God reminding us of His covenant love and care before the storm of judgement comes to our nation? Maybe so that we remember He remembers He’s committed to us.

Keep looking up!

Is God Signaling Us?

Apr 3, 2015

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky…and let them serve as signs to mark seasons (feasts)…” And there was evening and morning—the fourth day. Genesis 1:14,19

We are seeing some extraordinary signs in the sky. Last year we saw two lunar eclipses and this year we will see two more. In both years, each of the lunar eclipses is on the same Jewish feast days, Passover and Tabernacles. Plus we have seen one solar eclipse in the middle of the lunar eclipses that just occurred on March 20, which this year was the Jewish New Year.

Jewish tradition views a solar eclipse as an omen or harbinger of distress or crisis for Gentile nations. In light of the solar eclipse on March 20, Orthodox Jews issued a worldwide call to pray for the nations.

Forgive

Mar 30, 2015

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  Colossians 3:13

When you and I were young, we often had a picture of what we wanted our lives to be like when we grew up… a picture of our career, our family, and our children. What did you imagine your life would be like today? Has the canvas of your life’s painting turned out like you expected? Or have you been wounded — slashed by a handicap, hurt, injustice, illness, bankruptcy, betrayal?

Pray for the Persecuted

…Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.  Acts 12:5

It’s Friday, February 27th.  My husband is back in the hospital, and I am snowed in at home. Yesterday I listened to the cracking of tree branches as they broke off and hit my roof.  At times the pray for persecuted anne's backyardimpact was so strong that the entire house shook and the dog went into a barking frenzy.  Power was lost, but the house is currently warm and relatively safe.  While I’m here, I’m confident my husband is receiving the medical attention and care he requires.  I know this will pass, and next week we will be back more or less to normal.

I can’t help but think of women like me who are not listening to trees break and fall, but to the sudden burst of machine gun fire and the impact of bombs falling.
