“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” John 11:21
Sometimes God’s ways are hard to fathom. When Martha sent word to Jesus that her brother was sick, Jesus remained silent and still. And her brother died. When Jesus did show up four days later, Martha told Him He was too late to make a difference.
Why does God seem silent and still when our world collapses and the worst happens? In any city, but especially in a city where no building is allowed to be higher than a church steeple, why did He allow Dylann Roof to enter the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC, knowing what the demonically deranged guy was planning to do? Why did He not protect the pastor and eight other church members on June 17 as they met for prayer and Bible study?

If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.…However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you… Deuteronomy 28:1, 15
In writing a patriotic piece for Fox News Online, I have been reflecting on the Memorial Service that was held three days after 9/11. My father was the principal speaker at The National Cathedral that was packed with national and international leaders and dignitaries. His message was riveting. He concluded by clarifying the choice that faced us as a nation: Would we implode and disintegrate emotionally and spiritually? Or would we rebuild on a solid foundation of faith in God?

For each of the nine days of our Mayday! Mayday! Distress Call for Prayer, I will provide a prayer that will help us stay focused so that we can pray with one accord. I will also share each day a video segment from the Joel 1 and Joel 2 messages that I gave at The Prophecy Seminar at The Cove in March of this year.

“For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now…Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.” Matthew 24:21 Psalm 107:19
This past Spring, Joel Rosenberg and I taught through the book of Joel as we led a prophecy seminar at The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. It was my privilege to give the first two messages that covered Joel 1:1 through Joel 2:17. The impact on me was profound. Both times, when I stepped off of the platform, I knew God had spoken. The messages almost made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Why? Because God was clearly warning that His judgment is coming on America and on our world, and it’s going to be ugly. I knew it then, and I know it now.

Jesus said, Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. John 4:13-14
In a world filled with anger, violence, chaos, and confusion, give someone The Living Water. In a world of death, give Life. In a world of darkness, give Light. In a world of despair, give Hope. In a world of lies, give Truth.
Give them Jesus. Today.
